Elizabeth City and Pasquotank County Traffic Crash Numbers
NCDMV's archive tops out at its 2024 Crash Facts edition, which gives Elizabeth City a row of 672 crashes, along with 4 fatalities and 273 injuries. Those figures sum up one year across one city. They tell you nothing about how your own wreck happened or the value of a claim like yours.

Two NCDOT publications count crashes around Elizabeth City, one by city and one by county.
This page lays out the city's 2024 row, its bicycle, pedestrian and alcohol columns, Pasquotank and Camden deaths since 2014, the 2024 county profiles with school bus figures, and what an injured person can and cannot take from any of it.
01
Elizabeth City's single row in the 2024 Crash Facts city pages
City Crash Data opens Section 4 in the 2024 booklet, and Elizabeth City has one row there. Read across the All group, that row prints 672, 4 and 273 under Crashes, Fatalities and Injuries.
| City, as printed | Crashes | Fatalities | Injuries |
|---|---|---|---|
| ELIZABETH CITY | 672 | 4 | 273 |
Its columns read City, Crashes, Fatalities and Injuries, repeated across four group headings. The booklet also gives rows to Corolla and Coinjock, two Currituck County communities, though OSBM shows no municipal population at all for Currituck.
No footnote on these pages says what puts a crash in a city's row, and nothing says whether the count stops at the Elizabeth City limits.
02
Bicycle, pedestrian and alcohol columns for Elizabeth City, 2024
Elizabeth City's 2024 row continues with three more groups, headed Alcohol, Pedestrian and Bicycle in the booklet. Every group repeats the Crashes, Fatalities and Injuries labels.
| Heading in the 2024 row | Crashes | Fatalities | Injuries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bicycle | 3 | 0 | 3 |
| Pedestrian | 3 | 1 | 2 |
| Alcohol | 18 | 1 | 6 |
These are small counts for one city over one year, so I give them exactly as printed. The Pedestrian and Alcohol headings each carry one fatality, and whether one crash can sit under two headings at once goes unstated.

03
Traffic deaths in Pasquotank and Camden counties, year by year since 2014
The trend table of county fatalities, printed on page 6 in the 2024 booklet, shows 5 deaths in Pasquotank County for 2024 and none in Camden. It carries a count for every year back to 2014.
| Year | Pasquotank | Camden |
|---|---|---|
| 2014 | 3 | 3 |
| 2015 | 4 | 0 |
| 2016 | 5 | 0 |
| 2017 | 1 | 3 |
| 2018 | 6 | 5 |
| 2019 | 5 | 0 |
| 2020 | 6 | 2 |
| 2021 | 11 | 1 |
| 2022 | 13 | 1 |
| 2023 | 5 | 0 |
| Printed ten-year figure | 6 | 2 |
| 2024 | 5 | 0 |
The ten-year figure is printed between 2023 and 2024, and for each county it equals the 2014 to 2023 mean rounded to a whole number. No note in the booklet defines it. In the years shown, Pasquotank's high is 13 deaths in 2022 and Camden's is 5 in 2018.
This table sorts deaths by county, so Elizabeth City's share of the Pasquotank count cannot be read from it.
04
Pasquotank County's 1,001 reportable crashes in the 2024 profile
NCDOT's 2024 Pasquotank County Crash Profile shows 1,001 reportable crashes for the year and 404 in its Injuries column. Camden County's 2024 profile shows 175 reportable crashes and 74 injuries.
| 2024 row, as labeled | Pasquotank crashes | Pasquotank injuries | Camden crashes | Camden injuries |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fatal | 5 | 5 | dash | dash |
| Non Fatal Injury | 260 | 399 | 56 | 74 |
| PDO (No Injury) | 736 | not printed | 119 | not printed |
| Total | 1,001 | 404 | 175 | 74 |
Alcohol, pedestrian and bicycle rows in the Pasquotank profile
| Pasquotank, 2024 Total row | Crashes | Injuries |
|---|---|---|
| Alcohol Related Crashes | 38 | 18 |
| Pedestrian Crashes | 6 | 6 |
| Bicycle Crashes | 4 | 4 |
Beside 2024 the profile prints a 5 Year Avg., which for all Pasquotank reportable crashes comes to 950.8 crashes and 411.2 in the Injuries column. Whether that column counts people or injury entries is left unsaid. Year by year from 2020 through 2024, the Pasquotank Total row reads 879, 970, 952, 952 and 1,001 crashes.

NCDOT county profile
Reportable Crashes for all of Pasquotank, with paired Crashes and Injuries columns for 2020 through 2024.
The two figures come from separate NCDOT publications, so I never subtract the city from the county. Camden's 2024 Fatal line shows a dash, and the booklet's trend table lists no Camden deaths that year either.
05
School bus crashes in Pasquotank and Camden, and the 2025 report
The 2024 booklet's county table of school bus crashes gives Pasquotank County 8 crashes and 23 injuries, while Camden has a single crash with one injury. Neither county has a death in that table.
| County | Crashes | Fatalities | Injuries |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pasquotank | 8 | 0 | 23 |
| Camden | 1 | 0 | 1 |
That page gives no definition of a school bus crash. I repeat its numbers with no adjustment.

What Elizabeth City crash totals leave unanswered after an injury
Elizabeth City's 672 is a count of crashes placed in one row of the 2024 booklet, and nothing in it says who caused your own crash. Your own wreck is described on its DMV-349, in the officer's narrative and sketch.
The value of a claim comes from what happened to you and the evidence about that wreck. A county total does not raise or lower it, and I never treat one as a forecast.
My view of these numbers is plain. They describe a county across a year, and the questions in your case are about the wreck that hurt you and the people in it.
| What you want to know | Where it is answered |
|---|---|
| How many Elizabeth City crashes the 2024 booklet counted | The Section 4 city table in the 2024 booklet |
| What the officer recorded about your wreck | The DMV-349 for that crash |
Getting that DMV-349 is covered on our Elizabeth City report guide, and the main Elizabeth City page walks through the first call and the courthouses. When a family has lost someone in a crash, the page on wrongful death speaks to them directly.
Questions
Common questions
Does Elizabeth City's crash count include the Camden County sliver of the city?
The 2024 city table never says. Elizabeth City gets one row and the booklet prints no rule for crediting crashes to a city, so a reader cannot tell from it whether a wreck on the Camden sliver landed in that row.
Why does Pasquotank County show more crashes than Elizabeth City?
The NCDOT profile counts reportable crashes across all of Pasquotank, while the booklet gives Elizabeth City a single row. Since the two come from separate publications, I do not read the difference between them as a tally of wrecks outside the city.
Where can I get Elizabeth City's 2025 crash figures?
No posted edition is newer than 2024. For the 2025 Crash Facts report, NCDMV's instruction is to send a request by email, addressed to operations-support@ncdot.gov. Any figure from that edition would appear here only after being read in the report itself.
