North Carolina personal injury attorney · Since 1998
A personal injury attorney who comes to you, anywhere in North Carolina.
I am Julian Doby. I represent people hurt in car, truck and motorcycle crashes, and families after a wrongful death, across North Carolina. We talk first by phone or video. Then I can come to you, at your home or another place you choose, and we decide at that meeting whether to work together.
What I do
Personal injury cases I handle across North Carolina
My practice is personal injury only, for people hurt in crashes and for families who lost someone in one.
Truck accidents
Federal rules require a motor carrier to keep each driver's records of duty status for at least six months from the date of receipt, under 49 CFR 395.8(k)(1).
Read more →Wrongful death
In North Carolina the claim is brought by the personal representative or collector of the person who died. I meet with that person and the family where they are.
Read more →Auto accidents
North Carolina's contributory negligence rule can bar recovery for a driver who was even partly at fault, so who did what sits at the center of a car crash case.
Read more →Motorcycle accidents
Under G.S. 20-140.4(b), a helmet violation is not contributory negligence per se in a civil case. Riders get the same phone or video call first.

Four steps, and the first one is yours
Nothing starts until you reach out. After that, the attorney you talk to is the attorney who comes to meet you.
You reach out
Call 336-221-8900 or send a visit request. Nothing starts until you do.
We talk first
By phone or video, I hear what happened and you ask me anything you want to ask.
I come to you
I meet you in person where you are, at your home or another place you choose.
We decide together
Whether we work together is decided at that meeting, not on the phone.

In person
Why decide in person whether to work with an attorney?
Whether we work together is decided at an in-person meeting, after a first conversation by phone or video. I would rather make that decision with you across a table than over a phone line.
The phone or video call is where you tell me what happened and ask the questions you want to ask.
The meeting also lets you see who you would be working with before you decide anything. Choosing an attorney after a crash is a personal decision, and I think it belongs in a room with the person you would be hiring.
I would rather make that decision with you across a table than over a phone line.
You choose the place for the meeting. Your home works as well as anywhere, and so does a relative's house.

Why I fly
N8651C, the Piper Arrow that makes this a statewide offer
I own and fly a Piper Arrow, a 1976 Piper PA-28R-200 registered in my name in Graham under FAA registration N8651C. I do not want the distance from Graham to decide who I can meet with.
The 95 counties this site covers are the ones outside Wake County and the four counties around my Graham office. The plane is the reason I can offer an in-person meeting anywhere in North Carolina instead of only near my office. The offer does not change with where you are or how far you are from Graham. We talk first by phone or video, and then I can come to you, at your home or another place you choose.
More about the plane and my background is on the About page, along with my bar number and admission date.

Questions
Common questions
Do I have to come to the Graham office?
You do not have to come to the Graham office to meet with me. I can come to you anywhere in North Carolina, at your home or another place you choose. The office at 110 W. Elm Street is open to you if that is easier, and the first conversation happens by phone or video either way.
Can a family member call for someone who was hurt?
A family member can call or send the visit request for someone who is hurt or still recovering. The order stays the same after that first contact. We talk by phone or video, and then I can come to meet the injured person and the family where they are.
Is there someone at the office who speaks Spanish?
Lorena Meza, a paralegal who works with me, speaks Spanish and is the Spanish-language contact for the office. Call 336-221-8900 and ask for Lorena if you would rather talk in Spanish. The visit request form also has a language choice for Español.
Does the first phone or video call commit me to anything?
The first phone or video call does not commit you to anything. It is a conversation and not an agreement. Whether we work together is decided later at the in-person meeting, and you can stop at any point before then.
Do you take cases other than personal injury?
My practice is personal injury only. I represent people hurt in car, truck and motorcycle crashes and families after a wrongful death anywhere in North Carolina. Other kinds of legal matters are outside what I handle through this site or my Graham office.
Can we meet somewhere other than my home?
We can meet somewhere other than your home if you would rather. You choose the place for the in-person meeting, and a relative's house or another place you pick is fine with me. We settle the time and the place on the first phone or video call.
